The fabric carries a quiet complexity. Dyed with a blend of indigo and Ai, Japanese indigo, the surface is broken up by fine, rain-like streaks known as Bunjin Kasuri, a pattern historically used in men’s kimono during the Edo period. Undyed cotton threads sit beneath the indigo, giving the pattern a soft contrast and depth.

Woven slowly on a shuttle loom at a pace of just 30 meters per day, the cloth is built with a tightly twisted weft that creates a subtle elasticity and a gently shrunken texture.
